Tigers in the Grass

Older children like 4 and a half year old Jemima, can follow instructions better than the toddlers, enough to help create Tigers In The Grass for Mum's Skelton Travel reception area.

For an intimate feel, the canvas was to take up a large space at the end of the corridor where it could be viewed from the lounge, making you feel as if you could be sitting looking at an African plane...where Tigers Peep from the long grasses! The painting was inspired by the Interior Decor of course. The reception has an African theme to it with a terracotta tiled floor, ornate geometric Moroccan style runners and rugs, African animal sculptures and furniture and a lovely pair of sculptured Nubian women.

Jemima had an absolute ball while Sharron helped her, learning to mask areas for later use, drag and splatter paint with vibrant shimmering, metallic colours and to make texture using impasto gel over this 1.3 x 1.3 metre specially made canvas. After 4 hours of throwing paint wildly at the canvas and using different tools like rope, sponges, sticks and plastic spatulas, she proudly applied her signature. Her hand print of course!
