Edelweiss

When Emily McDonald from North Lakes turned 10 in 2008 her mum Yvette decided that for a really great present, Emily could experience a Little Pro session with our Sharron, also a North Lakes resident.

“Emily, loves painting but her school doesn’t have art classes this year” her mum said, “so this is a real treat!” and so Emily spent the day learning new skills under Sharron’s patient guidance, what it’s like to be a professional artist working side by side with Sharron in the comfort of her own home. Her mum watched the whole time, fascinated by the process and that Emily was able to help create a truly professional work of art, even signing the 2 matching pieces.

Yvette, who is a self confessed perfectionist when it comes to her homes’ décor enjoyed her free appointment with Sharron the week before hand. At first it was flowers, butterflies and fairies, but upon further questioning about style, Emily said she was fascinated with Germany, her grandfather’s homeland, and so a Naive styled pair of paintings about the Bavarian hills was sketched out for their approval and we all called it “Edelweiss.” On the painting day colours were mixed to exactly match Emilie’s bedspread to Yvettes’ delight. Now there are only so many hours in a day and Yvette decided it would be nice to have another house painted in the larger work and so, for free, Sharron did just that and added a few little extras too boot that just delighted the family. Later a new bookshelf that the art was made to fit, arrived and you can see in the photos the difference it has made to the space.

Anyway, to put the bonnet on the hat, Emilie’s and Sharron’s photo then appeared on the front cover of the local “Messenger” magazine! A perfect reward for Em’s hard work and she loved her surprise tailored T-shirt gift too!
