This large floral stripe painting was Brisbane interior designer, Kate Davis Steer’s invention, incorporated the striped cushion fabric as collage, then enlarged its’ complimentary floral pattern to use as a painted design element. A metropolitan, spacious and peaceful feeling pervades for the lounge room of this fabulous high rise riverside apartment.
The white background of the painting is soft, with textured, warm brushy tones. Iridescence meshed with impasto, resembles the movement of the river outside and the glow and shimmer of the sun. The large floral motif, adds a big punch of colour and acts as a focus point for the space, balanced with stripes which again, extends the sun on water feeling. White is ideal for peace and clarity. Needless to say the clients love this piece of work.
