This striking painting was created for the client's 20 year old son who loves rich racing reds.
For this 21 year old males space, I suggested to Interior Designer Kate Davis Steer, a geometric design and Kate agreed on this masculine design; I have added texture from a palette knife and tonal variance to help warm the atmosphere and add interest.
The Reds have been carefully toned and shaded while the silver vase and its tinted yellow green occupants are replicated as delicate trims, which soften the painting and mimic the drawer handles. As the room needed texture, sectioned areas were masked off and the streaky paint was very thickly trowelled on fused with impasto gel. The result added excitement to a restful room and the young man himself, as well as his mother and the Interior Designer were ecstatic.
