Susan and Rodney Missen had been searching for something nice for 11 year old son Brayden's bedroom for some time. Susan did not want a flood of cheap tacky posters! Having met Sharron at one of her exhibitions she booked her appointment without hesitation.
Brayden, in fact the entire family of 5 are huge baseball fans, so subject matter was easy. Rodney printed off images from The Angels web site of Brayden's favorite players while Susan and Sharron looked at other photos on an Angels calendar. Susan also wanted Brayden's monkey toy to be in the painting as a reminder of childhood, acting as the team mascot.
Given that Brayden loves the field play, we chose a photo of Erick Aybar in full flight catching a ball...and what a great photo it is! The artwork was painted in Resene acrylic and later Glass Coated for added sporty gloss and long term protection.

Susan's Decor Hints
- To line up the top of the bookshelf with the door frame, add objects on top of his bookshelf. The eye travels along lines, smoothing these out, makes for a more, neater, peaceful decor.
- Add 2-3 small cushions to a bare bed in your décor colours of Red, Blue, Green and Yellow Orange for added excitement and theme.
- Add a small round shag pile rug which could be a blend of his colours or just red and white. Texture warms a space. Always an excellent option when there is none present.
- Replace the small timber side drawers which are the wrong timber colour to the rest of the rooms furniture with a small round glass top table with, for instance, a 3 way baseball bat configuration or something like minded in black metal to match Brayden's bed head.
- Place a throw rug in green across bed base to shorten the beds length and add cosiness. Just make sure the greens is in the cushions match hue!
- Paint the large wall or entire room if you wish in light blue to the match curtain. I can give you a Resene colour code if you want to do this idea. Consider painting white cloud shapes adjoining the ceiling on the walls...to add a touch of whimsy.
- In colour psychology, Blue is excellent for boys to promote communication and red is good for boys who are lacking in energy. Yellow Orange is a colour which suggests optimism and abundance.
