What is Colour Psychology?  It is a science well healed in marketing, health, prison systems, retail outlets, children's facilities etc

Why is it used?  Colour Psychology is used across industries to gain trust, inspire action, offer truth, stimulate appetite and the senses, imply justice and honesty, relax or excite.

What if I don't like the full strength colour? For a peaceful, elegant decor, we will mix your colour with white, black or grey and use the colour at full strength in small amounts.

It sounds like gobbely-gook.  How can you prove it?  Provided below is a growing list of publications on Colour Psychology.  This will be added to each month.  These are web based articles for business and residential concerns.

How does Works For Your House use Colour Psychology for Works For Business?  We consider your interior decor and corporate logo and design your art from there.  We utilize set colours for a maximum emotional result and take into account Western reactions to colour.

How can you use Colour Psychology when real subjects might be portrayed?  Art is whatever it wants to be.  A real subject can be painted in an unreal colour.  As long as the overall colour message supports the business, the decor and the brand then the colour is doing its job.  Many portraits by modern artists will use unreal colour to convey how the subject feels.

Can Colour Psychology be used in my home too?  Yes!  Proceed to the next page and you will find a list of colours, their meanings and suggestions as to where to, or where not to use them.  In this day and age, many people are choosing just White for its clarity, openness, innocence and purity...reflecting the lack of it outside our homes.  Changing your red walls to a gorgeous green for instance may just be the breath of fresh air you need and one that will affect the whole family.

What colours should we be most wary about?  Red and Black.  Red is very aggressive, it advances, closing in spaces due to its high chromatic value and long vibration and will dominate any space.

Black, used in business to symbolize control of information, should also be used decisively as it can be overbearing. Black, though very elegant, is about strong will and protection and can mean that something is lacking in ones life.  We suggest not allowing your teenagers their Black room as it will stop them from moving forward.  Use it in small amounts for its contrast and sophistication.

If I don't like a colour and would like to, what should I do?  Colours have negative as well as positive attributes.  For instance Yellow, suggests joy, happiness, optimism, originality, knowing your own strength, quick thinking and the love of acquiring knowledge etc. The negative attributes are the opposite of the positive.  For Yellow it is fear and cowardice, negativity, finding it difficult to make decisions, confusion and doubt.  From days of old, if someone was a coward, they would be called "Yella."

Now this will sound crazy, but wear it!  All colours have a vibration and believe it or not, your body absorbs them.  For someone who detests Yellow, wearing it may actually make them feel sick.  So, purchase underwear in the colour you dislike and wear it to bed.  At night, your body will absorb the vibration and the next day you will feel different. Keep doing it. With Yellow for instance, you may feel more joyous the next day and more stimulated in the office.

After several nights, proceed onto wearing the colour in your clothing (you may have to even buy some) and after a while, begin to introduce the colour as accessories around your decor.  You will end up liking, even loving the colour and feeling different as relates to its positive attributes.

In a corporate situation, what is the easiest way to introduce Colour Psychology?  Change your paint colour, give style and support your theme with wallpaper (which is the latest, ultra cool trend) and hang art that will unite your decor.

Works For Your House can choose the colours for you and locate and choose the right wallpapers. Once approved, we will send the best English painters and wallpaper hanging team in Brisbane to your door, fully briefed on your needs. We will then create art that will unite your space, show your logo and tell a story and given our range of exciting art products, this can be achieved in any number of ways.
