Ellerfield Embrace

Aaron Zamyakal CEO and Liz irvine his manager for Ellerfield Financial Planning based at the Gold Coast, have very refined tastes backed by a strong sense of direction and emotional feel for their new Mt Gravatt company office

Having created a original digital design Ellerfield Values to be printed onto canvas, they wanted a large artwork for the entry.  Sharron suggested that business is about making your clients feel like they are being cared for, like putting a big warm arm around them and making them feel safe.

As this idea appealed to Liz, it was sketched for her on the spot in the style of Picasso, whom Aaron liked.  The design was refined, stylized and finally took shape, painted in chunky strokes of thick Resene acrylic mixed with impasto gel...though you would think it was all in oils! 

The artwork matches the decor and the Ellerfield Values art too, but uses colour and light for an emotional effect and well balanced artwork.  The Red in the left figure suggest a client who has been frustrated, felt angry and pensive.  The Blue, peaceful and cooling, balances and softens the Red. 

Blue being a feminine colour balances the masculinity of Red.  It is as if the left hand figure is welcomed, calmed and put at ease by the larger figure.  Blue is the colour for communication, authority, safety and peace; Red for business, action, energy and so the 2 combined instantly speak business.

The light in this art carefully works in Ellerfield's favour.  It says come out of the dark and into the light.  Black, psychologicaly, is about control and staying put.  White is like a blank page ready for boundless possibilities and it offers you clarity and purity in a complex world.  This is art for corporate foyers that really says something and works hard for the office to put clients at ease and instantly send a strong message - we care, we make a difference and we will make your life better.

Decor Tips

• In this decor, the only issue was the floral decorations.  Flowers have colour too.  Ensure your flowers are the same colours as your decor, especially the greens.
• We are very careful about sizing artwork.  Look for lines created by the height of doors, furniture, pots, cupboards, tables etc.  Art which does not line up will distract the eye and create more "interruption."
• Balance key artworks with other matching pieces or paint or wallpaper other visible walls so as to be sympathetic with the art, letting it shine and not the feature wall.
