Barbra Johnson, from North Lakes resident had a large lounge room wall which irritated her immensely. Nothing seemed to go there. After discussing at depth about what she liked, we arrived at her Japanese fabrics.
Sharron looked through Barbras' collection and choose those which best suited her room colours. She measured the wall, ordered a canvas, took payment for it and then went away and designed for a “painted collage.”
On the Workshop day, Barbra arrived to find the studio ready to go, with blues music humming in the background, the kettle boiled and a plate of cookies on the coffee table. Barbra helped cut fabrics into shapes, mix delicate metallic colours and apply them as directed to the canvas.
Together, Sharron and Barbra would stand back, admiring their work and Sharron taught Barbra how to see what needed changing and why. The result: stunning! The room is transformed and Barbra is one happy lady!
Decor tips
- Dont make a verticle line of furniture, accessories and artwork as the eye will go straight to the ceiling
- Choose a formal or informal layout to your room. For formal, center objects and balance with accessories on either side in groups of 3's or 5s. For informal, go unbalanced but pay great attention that you room is still evenly laid out.
- Make sure accessories have purpose and match the room's theme. For an japanese theme, use Japanese style sculptures. This is how you create atmosphere and tell a story.
